This webpage is the download page for the programs that I have developped for the study of the variability of wind power. The programs are intended to asses the variability of wind power introduced in the electrical grid, but it can be used to estimate of the effect of gust in turbines. The foundations of these programs can be found in:

The program WINDFREEDOM has implemented Markov chains and a gust detector. For example, it can compute the transition matrix from the record of any wheather station publicly available.

COLLABORATIONS ARE WELCOMED! If you want to expand the options of the program, we can work together to implement such improvements (either for open-source or for commertial projects). Just drop an email to joaquin.mur@unizar.es

The sofware can be downloaded from the "Download software and manuals" tab and installed according to the instructions in the "Installation procedure" tab. Note that the programs requires old Wolfram Mathematica Player (or full version). It does not work in the latest releases.

DOWNLOADABLE SOFTWARE FILE LIST

The latest manuals and programs are listed bellow. To use any interative calculus program (files with extension *.nbp), you must download it to a directory on your computer (depending on the browser configuration, you may need to right-click on the links and select 'Save as' options). Afterwards, you should open them with Wolfram Mathematica (only versions 7 or 8), Free Mathematica CDF Viewer or MathPlayer program with the menu command File/Open (see the manuals for more details).

  1. ColorHueGray2.m
  2. EQGUST_1.0.nb
  3. EQWIGUST_MANUAL_SPANISH.pdf
  4. Instructions.txt
  5. Manual_usuario_de_leerficheros.pdf
  6. WINDFREEDOM_100910.nbp
  7. WINFREEDOM_MANUAL_SPANISH.pdf

The programs run on older versions of Wolfram Mathematica 7 an 8 (full version or free Math player), but not in newer releases. If there is enough academic research colaboration, I can translate the Spanish manual into English and update the program so that it can run on newer versions (many things changed on Mathematica in last years).

Instructions for executing MathPlayer files:

You need to install Mathematica Player from https://www.wolfram.com/cdf-player/index.html in order to run the calculus and get the data from the weather database.

  1. Run old Wolfram Mathematica Player (versions 7 and 8 works fine)
  2. Open the file with the calculus (with *.nbp extension) from the menu "File/Open" or with the shortcut [Ctrl]+[O].
  3. Allow dynamic calculus.
  4. Be patient, specially for WINDFREEDOM because the program has to retrieve data from a database in the internet.
  5. After the program starup, the software will ask you a key. Enter the key to activate the program (send an email to joaquin.mur@unizar.es ).
  6. For beter view, I recommend to press function key [F12] to toogle into full screen mode.

Note: The program EQGUST_1.0.m requires that the file "ColorHueGray2.m" is in the same folder.
